How to Break Bad Habits the Japanese Way

Do you love Japanese gardens? Anime? Mochi? How about Japanese philosophy? I just discovered a remarkable 15-minute video at Koden Obscure, on YouTube. It is called “The Japanese System for Breaking Bad Habits & Addiction.”

It is good stuff! The premise is simply this: observe without judgement, in order to break bad habits.

Not only does the video provide good advise, it captivates you with beautiful ink drawings. Now, that is a pretty sly trick. While you are mesmerized by the art, your critical thinking relaxes. Your mind does not challenge or reject the spoken message. You begin to practise observation without judgement, as you watch the video.

Most people have bad habits they want to break. Or have addictions they want to overcome. I sure do. What I think is most effective in this Japanese approach to change, is that you stop resisting the habit or addiction. You stop engaging. You stop dancing with those old habits and addictions. The video shows you how to do it.

Koden Obscure describe’s itself as your guide to “ancient Samurai wisdom for mastering the modern world. Here’s another video title: “The Cheaper Your Pleasure, The Richer You Will Be.”

You see why I had to share Koden Obscure with you? It has much to say about the rewards of a simple lifestyle. Enjoy changing one percent at a time! (It’s in the video, you will see how.)
