A lot of people skip breakfast. I am one of them. Yet, it is the most important meal of the day! What can we do to change such a deplorable habit?

Grab the blender. Add water and a scoop of protein powder. Throw in frozen produce. Hit the power button. Garnish with a sprig of spearment, to make it pretty.

Ingredients

  • 1.25 cup water

  • 1 scoop protein powder

  • 1/4 cup frozen avocado

  • 1/4 cup frozen beets

  • 1/4 cup frozen blueberries

  • 1/4 cup frozen chopped spinach

  • 1 Tbsp honey

Instructions

  • Pour 1 cup water into a blender.
  • Add 1 scoop protein powder to the blender.
  • Add 1/4 cup of each frozen ingredient: avocado, beets, blueberries, and spinach.
  • Blend until smooth.

Notes

  • Use any type of protein powder you have on hand, whey or plant-based.
  • Use fresh produce, instead of frozen, if you don’t mind washing and chopping early in the morning. (You may want to add a few ice cubes.)
  • Use your preferred sweetener. Or throw in that last, lingering banana.
  • Be adventurous. Add ginger powder or turmeric. Pop in a dried shiitake mushroom. You can take this breakfast smoothie off the super-food chart!
  • But if you make it too healthy, you must eat donuts and potato chips for the rest of the day. Balance is everything! 😉
